OFVPA - Ontario Fruit & Vegetable Processors Association

About Us

What is OFVPA?

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Processors Association (OFVPA) is a not-for-profit, board-led association representing members across Ontario including green shippers and plants processing tomatoes, green peas, sweet corn, green and wax beans, cucumbers, carrots, lima beans, and squash for the canning, freezing and pickling industry.

Vision

The Vision of the organization is to act as a unified voice for Ontario's processing fruit and vegetable industry.

Mission

Our Mission is to connect, support and advocate for our members. OFVPA is committed to representing our members with integrity, honesty and hard work, and to assuring consumers that our products are safe, high quality and globally trusted.

What Do We Do?

The OFVPA is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Executive is elected by the membership and consists of individuals who own or operate a fruit and vegetable processing business.

The OFVPA is committed to representing its members with integrity, honesty and hard work.

As a single unified voice for the processing fruit and vegetable sector since 1956, the OFVPA provides industry leadership on matters that directly affect our members. Its objective is to protect, grow and strengthen the industry to the benefit of all members and best serve consumers.

What are the Advantages of Processed Fruits and Vegetables?

Nothing can replace the taste, consistency and nutritional value of a tomato grown in your back yard, but the Ontario growing season is short. During the winter months, fresh produce is often not very fresh because it has been shipped vast distances, at tremendous cost to the environment, and runs the risk of contamination en route. It may also be quite expensive.

Local fruits and vegetables that are processed within hours of picking, cooked briefly and flash frozen or canned are often nutritionally superior to imported fresh produce – and new techniques ensure they are infinitely superior to the processed foods of decades past. Buying our members' products helps support local farmers and processing companies and guarantees you always have the produce you need in your freezer or cupboard.
